BIBL 3713 – Contemporary Ethics

How do you decide what is right versus wrong and good versus bad? Is it based on experience or a feeling? What is the foundation for choosing what action to take?

This course engages these questions as we explore the foundations for moral decision making and ethical theory in Western Civilization and Christianity, and a study of significant ethical issues in contemporary society from both secular and Christian approaches. Topics include: biotechnology, beginning and ending life, punishment, war and peace, gender roles, sexual orientation, marriage, social justice, environmental ethics, animal rights, and cyberethics.
